I went to the Tacoma this weekend. Chris and I weren't able to get much done, but I did successfully control the steering motor with the Roboteq controller. I was using the serial port and Roboteq's Roborun software. I tried to control it with a PWM signal generated by the OOPic, but was unsuccessful. The manual says that I should be able to do a test with Roborun and a potentiometer for feedback, but they must be assuming that I'm making my own custom cable; the cable that came with it plugs into the entire AX2500 port and serial port, leaving no room to connect a potentiometer.

Cosma from Roboteq shipped an AX2500 motor controller to me.

The steering motor arrived today. It's a 12V DC Gear motor I got on eBay for $41. I tested it, and it seems to be perfect for the job. I think we will build more this upcoming weekend, so you can continue to follow our progress.
